The Confrontation between Belgian and German Troops in WW1
After an introductory film in our auditorium, you take the lift to the panorama room on the 22nd floor. You can even go two floors higher and stand outside on the roof of the tower, where you will have an impressive view of the First World War battlefields and cemeteries.
Then go back down into the museum. From floors 20 to 10, we tell the story of the confrontation between Belgian and German troops in the First World War. As well as the military story, we emphasise the impact of the war on daily life: how did soldiers try to reconstruct a life that was as normal as possible at the front? When people have to flee their homes, what do they take with them? How did soldiers try to process the war when they came home from the front?
